UPDATE 9/9/2025:
New Kensington, PA -- New Kensington Police charged a 17-year-old in Monday afternoon's shooting near Valley Royal Court.
Logan King, 17, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and attempts to cause bodily injury with a weapon.
King is accused of shooting another man near the Valley Royal Court housing complex at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Monday.
The victim was shot twice and taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle before being flown to Forbes Hospital.
King barricaded himself in an apartment inside Valley Royal Court which prompted a response from SWAT.
SWAT established a perimeter around the apartments and King surrendered a short time later and was taken into custody.
Westmoreland County Detectives assisted New Kensington Police with the investigation.
King was denied bail and remains incarcerated.

New Kensington, PA -- Westmoreland County Detective Bureau and New Kensington Police Department are investigating a shooting that injured one person on Monday afternoon.
New Kensington Police heard several gunshots near Valley Royal Court on Fifth Avenue at approximately 12:35 p.m.
The shooting allegedly took place outside of the apartment complex, behind a neighboring church.
Investigators received information that one person was injured as a result of the shooting and was being transported to a local hospital by a personal vehicle.
The victim was subsequently flown to Forbes Hospital for further treatment. The victim's condition is unknown at this time.
SWAT established a perimeter around Valley Royal Court where they believed the alleged suspect was barricaded.
After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody without further incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
