Governor Edward G. Rendell signed the Right-To-Know law on February 14, 2008 fundamentally changing the way people access public records of their government, and changing the way government processes these requests. This law takes effect January 1, 2009.
Pursuant to this law, this website has been made available to fulfill Westmoreland County's obligations to its citizens. View implementation procedures of this law (Rule 509) within the Unified Judicial System, including trial courts and court departments.
The Right-to-Know Law does not apply to audio and/or video recordings made by law enforcement pursuant to Act 22 of 2017. Any denials of law enforcement audio or video recordings must be appealed to the appropriate Court of Common Pleas, not the Office of Open Records.
