Greensburg, PA -- Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announces the guilty plea and sentencing of a Johnstown man who was charged with attempting to sell raw fentanyl to undercover officers.
Cortez Haselrig, 27, pleaded guilty to four counts including delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Two counts were dismissed as part of his guilty plea.
Haselrig was arrested in June of 2022 after police set up an undercover buy in a parking lot in Ligonier Borough.
Haselrig had approximately 50 grams of raw fentanyl at the time of his arrest, with a street value of about $90,000.
Investigators believe Haselrig was a major fentanyl supplier to the Westmoreland County and the western Pennsylvania region.
Common Pleas Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio sentenced Haselrig to serve 8 to 16 years in prison. He has been incarcerated since his arrest in 2022.
DA Ziccarelli thanks Assistant District Attorney Adam Barr for reaching this resolution and applauds law enforcement for their diligence in investigating drug trafficking in Westmoreland County and ridding the streets of these deadly drugs.
