North Huntingdon Township, PA -- A former Meineke employee is facing criminal charges after police said he forged and cashed more than 80 checks from the business totaling more than $43,000.
Tyberius Washinski, 24, of Greensburg, was charged with theft, forgery, receiving stolen property, and access device fraud.
North Huntingdon Township Police were contacted by the owner of the Meineke Auto Care on Route 30 after discovering multiple fraudulent checks from the business were cashed and deposited.
All of the suspected fraudulent checks were discovered with altered dates and allegedly made payable to Washinski, according to officers.
Investigators discovered the fraudulent checks were issued in 2021 but were altered to reflect a date of 2024 or 2025 and part of the magnetic ink character recognition number was altered on the checks.
While most of the checks were deposited through mobile means, detectives with North Huntingdon Police were able to narrow down deposit locations and partial account numbers.
Washinski worked at the North Huntingdon Meineke in 2021 and the checks that were altered were payroll checks used in 2021 but discontinued in January of 2025.
Police also observed surveillance video from bank branches where Washinski allegedly deposited some of the checks, detectives determined the images matched tattoos on Washinski's hand and the truck he was driving.
