Greensburg, PA -- A Greensburg woman who pleaded guilty but mentally ill for attempting to kill a child was sentenced to serve up to 20 years in prison.
Skye Naggy, 32, will continue to receive mental health treatment while she is incarcerated and serving her sentence.
Naggy pleaded guilty but mentally ill to attempted homicide, aiding suicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, interference with child custody, and endangering the welfare of a child in January.
Naggy was charged in November of 2022 after she left behind handwritten letters stating she needed the powerful opioid to protect herself and the child and claimed that she was told by God that she was going to die soon.
Police found Naggy and the child in a wooded area off of a trail near Loyalhanna Lake after officers tracked her phone to the location.
Upon an examination, the child tested positive for fentanyl and opiates. The child survived and is in the care of a relative.
Common Pleas Judge Christopher Feliciani sentenced Naggy to serve 10 to 20 years in prison followed by five years of probation.
Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli thanks Assistant District Attorney Jim Lazar for prosecuting this difficult case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
