New Stanton, PA -- A Westmoreland County mother is charged with endangering the welfare of a child after troopers found her two young children roaming the hallways of a local hotel.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to the Hampton Inn in New Stanton Borough on January 29, 2023.

Troopers were trying to locate the guardian of the two children, ages 5 and 3, for nearly two hours after they were found alone in the hallway.

The 27-year-old mother from Madison came to the lobby to report her children were missing.

State troopers said housekeeping staff found suspected drugs inside the woman’s room. Police searched her vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Children and Youth Services responded, and the children were placed in the care of their grandmother.
