Scottdale, PA -- Scottdale Police charged a former daycare worker after a 4-year-old was allegedly assaulted at the daycare center in early September.
Scottdale Police received a report from the child's mother after being made aware that her child was allegedly assaulted on September 5, 2025 by a daycare worker at New Hope Childcare Center and Preschool.
The victim's mother learned the daycare worker was no longer employed at the center and inquired about the incident with the director of the daycare.
The director of the daycare showed the victim's mother a video of the incident where daycare worker could be seen pinning the victim in a corner, allowing another child to hit the victim, and shoving the victim to the ground, according to police.
The victim's mother was upset that police were not called about the incident, and a ChildLine was not reported.
Officers responded to the daycare and viewed the video of the alleged incident.
Police observed the worker shoving the victim, with both hands, to the ground causing the victim to lie motionless on the ground until she picked the victim up and shoved the victim to the ground again.
The victim's mother said the child has been withdrawn since the incident.
Another employee who witnessed the incident provided a statement to the daycare and said the force of the child hitting the ground caused a teacher in another room to hear it.
As a result of the incident, the daycare center fired the worker.
Krista Ondish, 58, was charged with aggravated assault of a victim less than 6, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of children.
Ondish was arraigned and released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.
