New Kensington, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli, in cooperation with New Kensington Police, announce criminal charges against Dylan Walmsley, 19, of Leechburg.
County Detectives and New Kensington Police charged Walmsley with firearms not to be carried without a license (F3), person not to use/possess a firearm (M1), persons not to possess/own firearm (M1).
According to police, Walmsley was involved in a double shooting in New Kensington outside of Valley Royal Court on Sunday afternoon with Divine Warner, 16.
Investigators retrieved multiple surveillance videos from the area which showed the altercation in its entirety. Surveillance video shows Warner walking up to Walmsley with a handgun.
The two can be seen getting into a physical altercation, with Warner being the aggressor, resulting in both being shot. Warner was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Walmsley walked across the street and knocked on the back door of the police station and told officers he had been shot in the abdomen.
A New Kensington Police officer rendered aid on Walmsley until EMS arrived and transported him to the hospital. Police said multiple guns were located at the scene.
Walmsley remains in the hospital and is expected to survive. He was arraigned Tuesday evening and was denied bail.
The shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation, anyone with information about the shooting should call New Kensington Police.
