Greensburg, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli is proud to announce the addition and grand opening of the county’s first Law Enforcement Center.

While the location of the center is not being publicly identified for safety and security purposes, the non-descript building in Hempfield Township will serve as a deconfliction center for local, county, state, and federal law enforcement partners.

The building houses the county’s digital forensic lab supervised by the office’s civil forensic analyst; it provides access to investigative resources like License Plate Readers and secures files for active, unsolved criminal cases.

By having a building that’s accessible and secure for every level of law enforcement, it is our belief that communication and cooperation among police agencies will be elite.

For example, this center will be utilized for warrant detail, undercover buy/bust operation, and county SWAT operations to enhance and ensure not only officer safety, but the safety of the public.

“I want Westmoreland County to be the gold standard when it comes to well-coordinated law enforcement to attain public safety and officer safety. It was imperative to me, as District Attorney, to develop a state-of-the-art facility where law enforcement agencies can collaborate to share intelligence, effectuate arrests, prevent and solve crime. I believe this center will exceed those expectations,” DA Ziccarelli said.

The inspiration behind the Law Enforcement Center was inspired by and modeled after York County’s center curated by then district attorney, and current Attorney General Dave Sunday.

The renovation and completion of the Law Enforcement Center would not have been possible without grant funding awarded by Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward. To that end, roughly $650,000 has been invested via grant funding into the interior of the building to make it a state-of-the-art facility. The District Attorney’s Office announced the funding opportunity through the Law Enforcement Infrastructure Enhancement Grant nearly two years ago, coupled with the generosity of the space provided by the Westmoreland County Commissioners, the center is up and running.

Today, the District Attorney’s Office was proud to exclusively reveal the Law Enforcement Center to Attorney General Dave Sunday and our partners at the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Westmoreland County Police Chiefs Assocation, Westmoreland County Detective Bureau, and the Westmoreland County Commissioners.

I am confident law enforcement, and the community will realize the worth of this resource center, as we did when a similar facility was opened in York County.”
