Why This Matters
According to U.S. Department of Justice, approximately:
• 1 in 4 women in the United States have experienced completed or attempted rape in their lifetime.
• More than 50% of women have faced some form of sexual violence involving physical contact.
• Over 400,000 sexual assaults occur each year among individuals aged 12 and older.
• The majority of assaults happen close to home — often by someone the victim knows.
Empowerment and self-defense training have been shown to significantly reduce vulnerability by improving awareness, decision-making, and physical preparedness. Learning how to protect yourself is not about fear — it’s about confidence, control, and freedom.
